I have recently changed cell phone carriers and I guess that means I needed to update my cell phone at twitter because DM’s were not coming to my new phone. To fix this login to twitter and choose Settings -> Devices and choose “Delete and start over”. Next, enter your cell phone number and twitter will send a pin to your cell. Get the pin and enter it into the screen on twitter. Your cell phone will then be all set and you can get DMs through it or messages from users you have device updates turned on.
Hope this helps! My phone was quiet for a day before I figured this out! Kind of odd I know!

I had the same experience as you – last week I switched and all was quiet on the Western Front. Hopefully people will find your post and save some frustration. Ahh, the frustrations of the techno age.
Good tip.
One more thing to check also… I know this sound obvious, but remember to make sure you have an unlimited text/SMS plan with your new carrier.
Don’t want to get that surprise phone bill

Great tip. I forgot to do this when I changed my phone number and could not figure out why Twitter wasn’t working.

I had the exact same experience when I switched carriers and also found it odd that I had to reenter my phone number even though it hadn’t changed.
Odd, when I switched carriers I didn’t have this problem. The one problem I did have was that they didn’t add the ulimited data/text to my account and my 2nd bill was over $1,000!
They quickly fixed it once I went down and complained though ;P
Thanks for this tip. Twitter has been experiencing HUGE problems lately. The follower numbers are completely messed up and while they say they’re supposed to get caught up in a few hours, I’m still waiting over two days for my numbers to correct themselves. They were supposed to fix this issue a week ago so who knows whats going on.
Thanks for these very helpful tips. I have been using twitter for quite a while to share the benefits of using Music Teachers Helper, a software that can ease a teacher’s worries in managing his or her studio. Yet, I guess I have to learn more on how to use twitter properly. Glad that you are sharing your knowledge to us.
