Daylight Savings Time & Your Computer

by Justin on March 9, 2007

In 2005 congress passed the “Energy Act of 2005″ in order to save evergy and that is set to being in the spring of 2007. What this does is move DST back one month and forward one week in the fall. The reasoning behind this is that there will be more sunlight while we are awake, and thus less energy being used. This is all fine except for the fact that the times for the changes have not been changed for many years and now we are moving it earlier and making it later in the fall. Fine for us humans but what about computers? I have heard that Microsoft has issued patches for Windows please use this link for more info: Microsoft DST. That page says that Vista and any computers running automatic updates may not be affected. It also goes on to show how to verify if your computer is ok.

I guess I should also add that the Portal Planet server is all patched up also and will be fine with the daylight savings time change.
